We just got a Seagate FreeAgent Pro drive in to serve as a utility backup drive, so we don't have to attache potentially infected windows systems to the network, and it is silent. Like "Is this thing really on??" silent. It's quite heavy, and the base is set on some substantial rubber feet, minimizing vibrations, too.
