This is definitely bad information. As I remember, the 10.4.3 update was a bad update, just like the 10.3.7 and the recalled original 10.2.8, so it's possible that it didn't work in 10.4.3, but it definitely does work in 10.4.11. I couldn't use my Beige without it, the scrolling speed drops to a crawl without Quartz Extreme. I'd post a screenshot of my Quartz Extreme enabled Beige System Profiler or Quartz Extreme Check, but that's not allowed on this list. My video card is a 64MB Radeon 9100 that's a little quicker than your 9200.
