I USUALLY have gone with Seagates, all else (Price, capacity, speed) being equal. However, Seagate recently reduced the warrantee on OEM and consumer level drives and had a batch of 750GB (and 500GB iirc) drives that were released with bad firmware. Some people swear by a particular vendor and model, and other people swear at the same vendor and model. Unless you are going to spend the money on an "Enterprise" class drive, most any consumer grade drive from any vendor will suffice for your needs. Just keep your backups current.
