The place to start would be with your phone company....it's their  
lines any DSL will be carried on, regardless of who offers it. They  
can tell you if you even qualify for DSL (<18,000 feet from switch, no  
more than one analog-digital transition.)

On my phone company's website (Qwest, you probably have Pac Bell?)  
there's a form you can enter your phone # and see if it qualifies for  
DSL.

If it qualifies, you may have your choice of ISP's. If not you need to  
look into something else, like cable, satellite or cellular service.
