Given my luck with older floppy disks, my question would be whether or not the OP is sure that his media can still be read. One of the biggest reasons I stopped using floppy disks completely was less about the form factor or the amount of the data I could store on them ... though that certainly was part of it. It was because I lost confidence that I would always be able to read back what I wrote.
