Thanks all for the advice. Yes, I'm beginning to think that the Dell 27" might be the way to go, if I decide to buy new. As Kris pointed out, its specs exceed the Apple Cinema Displays, and the user reviews I've seen are are good.

I hope the G5's video card (GeForce 6600) can run it OK; I assume it can.
