In the past I've read at least one poster who claimed the Aluminum
G4 powerbooks had "problems," and advocated sticking with TiBooks.
But I've not read anyone describing such alleged problems. I'm using
a 550mhz TiBook. I would like to upgrade over the summer to either a
1gb TiBook or an early AlBook. I do not want to go Intel anytime
soon. Thus my reason for asking. Thanks for any advice!

My 15" G4 867 mhz PowerBook running Tiger is a 'lovely' machine ...
except for its erratic wireless performance. I suspect the antenna
runs around the screen, resulting in unavoidable interference.
My 13" G3 PowerBook 2000 (Pismo) is still running Tiger perfectly ...
used mostly by visiting grandchildren doing homework.
I am typing this message on my new 13" Intel 2.13 ghz MacBook (the
last model with a firewire port) running Snow Leopard and am in the
process of making it my primary Mac.
It should be noted that all the older PPC applications I have tried
so far run perfectly well under Rosetta ... including Eudora! ...
without my having to do anything except copy them over.
I originally was concerned about going Intel but so far the
transition has been a non-issue.
