I didn't even notice the mention of the "Adaptec OEM SCSI PCI" until
your note made me look for it.
I also cannot see why he would keep that installed since it doesn't
appear the OP is using it??? Curious.

I haven't used it since 2004 when a flash flood wiped out my scanner
(this same computer had water creeping up over 4" high from the
bottom, but somehow managed to stay pretty dry and never skipped a
beat). I was never aware until now that a PCI card would use power
without a device attached. Looks like I'll have a few spare parts
after I wipe the drives.
BTW, I have been booting into Tiger solely from the 1 Tb SATA since I
installed it with the SerTek card
