It seems that I have to replace my scanner every few OS upgrades. My question is why do the upgrades make the scanner a paperweight. So either don't upgrade or buy a b\new scanner. I look more carefully at reports on people who have upgraded. but when I purchase a new computer it has a different (newer) OS running. I understand there are ways around the "issue". Just curious as to why, thanks.

I'm sorry, what?? If your scanner stops working after an OS upgrade, your scanner vendor needs to upgrade the driver; buying a new scanner is pretty seriously over-reacting.

If your scanner vendor doesn't get updates out (and 10.6 broke a lot of stuff) use better scanner software, like Vuescan. <http://www.hamrick.com >
