One thing to bear in mind, always: MP2 files (which is what DVD's use) are optimized for playback on lower end processors...when DVD's were introduced, processors werea LOT less powerful than today, even dedicated ones like in DVD players.

MP4's are smaller, but require greater processing power to view.

This is why DVD Player on a Pismo, for instance, works perfectly well, yet MP4's and Flash skip, stall, and get out of synch.

This is the trade-off between size and convenience.
