Hi,
I am looking for some Benchmarking or Troubleshooting software that will
run under Mac OS X 10.3.9. I am looking for this because I have 3 iBook G3 500
Late 2001. They all have 256MB of RAM and 15GB Hard Drives. 2 of them boot up
really nice and quick and are ready to go the 3rd takes at least a minute to a
minute an 1/2 longer to boot than the others. It seems to sit on the screen
that is grey with the swirling circle a lot longer than the other 2 do. This
happens regardless of if the laptop is running on battery or electrical.
Troubleshooting:
1) Ran Apple Hardware Diagnostics with no problems.
2) Someone suggested that it might be an issue with the Hard Drive so I ran
FSCK with no errors.
3) Ran Apple Hard Drive Utility and ran a check on the hard drive and did a
correct permissions. The check was clean and it corrected some permissions,
still no change.
4) As a last resort I wiped the hard drive and re-installed 10.3.9, still no
change.
I know this isn't the iBook group, but these computers are G3s and I'm not
a member of the iBook group. If you think I'll be better served there let me
know. I'm really just looking for suggestions on where to go next.
