I installed the last security update from Apple on G4 and on restart I had the blue screen. Tried restarting several time with same result.

Old issue. The update probably didn't complete the kernel cache rebuild. Booting into Safe Mode (shift key held down), which flushes the caches and rebuilds them, should fix it. Then just reboot normally.

I'm reinstalling my OS now and I hope I can back up from my backup drive. Has anyone else had this problem?

Don't do that. That's a Windows solution for a Mac problem!.

Seriously. WTF. You know how rich auto shops would be if they sold you a new engine every time you had a flat tire?!!!!!
