Mactracker (http://www.mactracker.ca/) has a feature that lets you choose which mac you have and it tells you the software package that comes with it (the proper number on the install disk). I know it seems like you are backing up, but I think I would just double check and make sure you have the right restore disk for the imac before going down any other road.
