All of LaCie's Quadra series drives that I've used are bootable. They

I've used are quite sturdy, but easily openable - so you can update /
replace the drive mechanism therein. IOW, these tend to be high-end
enclosures. They're available from the usual venues.

Right now I have a d2 Quadra on my desk - SATA internal, and USB2,
FW400, FW800, and eSATA external.

These things are pricey. There has to be something cheaper, something that's just the enclosure that I can put my HD in. Anyone? Thanks a lot, Dan.
