Hello! I'm just wondering: will an ATI Radeon 9600 Dual-DVI AGP card work in (every) G4 Power Mac?
The specific card, from a Power Mac G5: Part Number: 661-3545, 661-3545-R, 661-3435 Model: 630-7151, 630-7231, 630-7067, 631-0047631-0079, 631-0119, 109-A58503-20, 109-A585503-20, 102A5851220 Product EEE Code: SWL, SWM, T4S, T4T, T4U, T4V, TEL, TEM, TEN, TEP, TWF, TWG, TWH I know of with the infamous Pin 3&11 hack… http://themacelite.wikidot.com/pins-3-and-11 Although I'm not even sure if this is required for a non-ADC-card… Anyway, is there anything else to look for? I ask particularly because I keep reading in eBay item descriptions that some cards will work in G4's from the AGP up to the QS, but not in the MDD. Why is that? Also, a very old forum posting indicates that a modification is needed: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=163238 The included link is dead. Any comments on the info, that the Radeon 9600 needs to be modified to work in older G4 Macs? I'd like to upgrade a MDD (non-FW800) using such Radeon 9600 Dual-DVI. I'm planning on upgrading my QS (2001) with the Radeon 9000 from the MDD thereafter. So I'd have a double benefit.
