I have a G4 DA as well. It was a 667 MHz model, and I installed an OWC Mercury G4/1.4 GHz CPU upgrade. It certainly made this Mac much more useful (I work in DTP using Adobe CS3 and, while not really fast, it's usable). My feedback on this upgrade is twofold. While it runs smoothly in OSX (10.3 and 10.4), I had several issues in OS9: - Occasional freezes on startup - Occasional system crashes when running games - Audio is sometimes not working (no sound whatsoever), and you have to re-boot several times to get it back - Formac ProTV card not working anymore So, if you're still using OS9, beware of CPU upgrades. There is (was?) a database of user reports on CPU upgrades on the XLR8 site: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
