Good point! If you've gone to the effort to botch your system, then payback is having to do a clean install...


Oh... the other missing piece is if you've installed any processor specific / optimized app or library builds, such as the Camino or Firefox stuff from Furby or RPM or TenFourFox. Going from G4 to G5 should work with those, but you'll get much better performance if you grab the G5 builds.
