My old ADC Apple display was pretty beat up (pressure points and dead
USB ports), so I went looking for a replacement. After looking for a
few months, I found a local fellow selling one for the bargain
basement price of $25. A field test looked good, so I paid up and
brought it home and it looks gorgeous - except for one little flaw.
The lower right hand corner looks somewhat gray when looking at a
full-screen white background. Since I'm not a graphics professional
it's not a big deal, but I'd like to correct it if possible.

Am I correct in assuming this is a backlight defect? Could I use the
backlighting from my old 22" LCD to replace the apparently defective
lighting in my new monitor? How difficult is it to replace the
backlight(s)? I've managed to track down a repair manual for the 22"
display, and it looks fairly involved, though hopefully not as
dangerous as messing around with a CRT.

Has anyone here tried this before? The closest thing I've done to
something like this is disassembling a 24" iMac to blow it out and
replace the hard drive.

Thanks...
