I am trying to share my printer and public folder from a G-4 DA running 10.4

preferences and turned these on.

What exactly did you turn on?

Printer sharing and personal file sharing.

That *should* be all you need but I've had problems remote accessing Macs running Tiger in the past. Sometimes enabling another service (I don't remember which one) has gotten it working for me.
