FTP is not file sharing. When you log into an FTP server, you are placed
at the root of whatever the server thinks the filesystem is, and for OS X
that's /.

If you don't mind just cd'ing to your array from there, then just do that.

If you want to make FTP see only a part of the filesystem, you need to change
what it thinks / is. The simplest and most secure way is to chroot() it. That
is a Unix question, not specifically a Mac question, but something like
http://www.itworld.com/nlsunix071108 should get you started.

If this is too much work, just use regular AppleTalk file sharing rather
than FTP.
