I respectfully disagree.
First, if you don't know the OP needs, how could you know what's best for
him?
Second, Snow Leopard has - at least - a couple benefits over Lion / M.Lion:
- SL can still run PPC applications (via Rosetta)
- the interface is - IMHO - better and clearer.

I had to use a Lion-equipped Mac, and I was lost! :-o
The user interface and Finder didn't behave like I was used to; Mac's user
friendliness my @ss!
(and I'm a long time Mac user, no newbie)

Thus no, newer is NOT always better. ;-)
