Wow!  I can understand why things get bogged down.

Why don't you just create a "news" folder in the toolbar launch from their one 
at a time when you need them?

I wouldn't dream of opening a list like that on my 1.25 GHz G4 laptop or even 
my late '09 Intel Mac Mini...
