I tried to expand my TiVo. I got a 2TB WD My Book drive which turned out to be USB 3.0. It won't work with my TiVo Premire. As the TiVo wants an eSata drive. I have had the model number for this eSata drive for quite some time, but when I went to buy it Amazon notified me there was a newer model a 2TB drive for the same price. So I bought it. It won't work with my TiVo so I moved to plan B which was to use it with my DA G4.
In futzing around with it I found it had the windows something or other file system on it. So I reformatted it, but it won't make nice with the G4 either as it messes up the sleep mode and it won't wake up and failing waking up it won't find a boot drive on reboot. For the longest time my computer won't shut down or reboot from the Apple menu and I've pretty much given up trying that so if I want to reboot or shut down I use the buttons on the front of the computer. I'm pretty much thinking I will have to let this My Book drive sit until I get an Intel Mac, however, I noticed when I formatted this thing there were 4 different options to format this drive for a Mac using Disk Utility. Does this make a difference or is it as I suspect the ongoing boot issue with the USB port?
