Category: None Group: 2.0.0 beta 5 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: ryu701 (ryu701) Assigned to: Nathan Walp (faceprint) Summary: false auto idle Initial Comment: Gaim 2.0.0 beta 5 sets me idle even when I am actively using my computer. This problem started occuring after I switched to beta 5 from beta 4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: V0rtex (ev0rtex) Date: 2007-02-23 18:17 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1526976 Originator: NO I have this very same problem after reinstalling my operating system (Gentoo Linux) and installing the latest Gaim 2.0.0 beta 6. Before doing a clean reinstall of my system it worked fine with 2.0.0 beta 5. It seems to be ignoring the xscreensaver idle time reporting and defaults to the Gaim idle time so it only comes out of idle when I send a message. I have tried using xscreensaver and gnome-screensaver under Gnome 2.16.2, neither of which seems to make a difference. If it matters at all, I use the Yahoo, ICQ, MSN, and Jabber(Google Chat) protocols. If there is something I can do to help find the cause of this problem, let me know ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-01-03 14:39 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO Nathan, can you look at this one? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: ryu701 (ryu701) Date: 2007-01-02 17:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1495287 Originator: YES I've forgotten to say, I use Jabber and MSN protocols. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: ryu701 (ryu701) Date: 2007-01-02 17:21 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1495287 Originator: YES Thanks for the replies. In the preferences dialog: Report Idle Time: Never (only other option is "from last sent message". I want to use audo away feature but I prefer my idle time not to be reported, if it's possible) Auto Away: Change status when idle (checked) I use Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. Gnome screensaver. Gnome version 2.14.3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-01-02 17:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO what protocol(s) are you using? what is your idle time preference set to? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoffrey (theprog) Date: 2006-12-30 21:37 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=935861 Originator: NO In the preferences dialog, do you have idle time reported on the basis of the last message sent, or on keyboard and mouse use? In the former, you have to be actively sending messages in Gaim or you will be marked idle. Assuming you have the idle preference correctly set to keyboard and mouse use, a number of things could be wrong. What operating system do you use? Windows XP, 2000, or ME? Linux? If you use Linux, what desktop/screensaver environment do you use? Gnome Screensaver, KDE screensavers, or xscreensaver? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100235&aid=1621656&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
