Hi, Have you looked at device/terminal servers such as 'nport server' from MOXA http://www.moxa.com/product/NPort_5410.htm
These devices facilitate RS232 serial comms with devices using TCP/IP sockets. Very useful where application does not have serial drivers Not cheap , but very flexible & expandable. However if you have existing hardware ...............
