Hi shaun, A good question about Tank Commander, so I looked at the keystrokes.ini file to find that David did not include the export map file feature in the game. It is part of Shades of Doom, Paccman Talks and Sarah. In packman Talks the line to look for is, 48=[control]w// make map file And in Sarah it is 48=[shift]w// make map file This is from the Sarah instructions: You can also produce a Braille map of the rooms and corridors you have explored by hitting Control-W. The map is written to a file in the Sarah folder with the name "MAP" plus the area number and the file-type of "DAT". For example, if you create a map playing in hour one, it will most likely be named map1.dat and found in C\program files\Sarah and the Castle of Witchcraft and Wizardry\map1.dat". The maps are in a format suitable to be sent to a Braille printer, or can be read on any braille output device. The symbols on the map are: G equals a wall. X equals your location. A equals corridor already explored. Although not as nice as a braille version, the map is just a text file and can be read in NotePad. Remember though, the map only shows places where you have already visited, and so you won't get a complete map unless you have visited the whole floor. It is still useful though, for finding rooms and corridors you have missed.
I guess you noticed the error in the keystroke for Sarah that I need to change, since the instructions say control w while the keystroke is really shift w. smiles, Phil ----- Original Message ----- From: "shaun everiss" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" <gamers@audyssey.org> Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2006 6:20 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] shades of doomb help > aah. did not realise about that key is gtc the same to this reguard. > And what are the format of such files wen created? > At 12:24 AM 4/24/2006, you wrote: >>Hi Shaun, >>While I don't think David Greenwood is on this list, he has his own list >>and >>I read most of the messages from this list, and if they are something I >>think he needs to know, I will forward him the message. >>The latest version of the GMA game engine has the ability of taking a text >>file map of a level and importing it into the game, although this function >>can only be done by a game developer with a special security code. >>So this means that anyone using the create map hot key, which in Shades of >>doom is control w >>can then modify this map in their word processor and send it to the game >>developer, who in this case is David who can then import the revised map >>into the game as a new level or a modified existing level. >>Of course you would need to explore or visit the entire level to generate >>a >>complete map of the level first. >> >>David did not create the GMA game engine to be available to the public to >>modify the games as you suggested and access to the engine does not give >>you >>access to every game since each game has its own security code which would >>give you the ability to modify it. >> >>Sincerely, >>Phil Vlasak >>[EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Gamers mailing list ..
