Does this asteroid style of game also contain the random concept where you have to pick up a random item to aid you in your adventure before the item vaporizes?

I don't know if thom's specific asteroids remake will be closer to the original, with the player in the exact center of the playing field, having to protect him/herself in 360 degrees, and the strange teleporting movement system that always seems to get me killed when I try a varient of the Original Asteroids. Even though the audio remakes of classic atari 80's space shooters there have been seem to all be remakes of space invaders, there do seem to have been many more games of a similar style produced back then all with different features. for example there was rescuing hostages and left/right scrolling in defender, bouncing bullits back in deflecter, and having to jump pits in Moon patrol. Imho seeing audio remakes move away from standard space invaders and explore some of these similar in style, yet different in execution games is a welcome change, and Imho multiple game developers' approaches to this style would be a good thing. Beware the grue! Dark. _______________________________________________ Gamers mailing list ..
