Hi all,
I have gotten allot of questions regarding how to play STFC, how to beat
STFC, and make many command decisions. Here is a true battle which I
fought tonight and won on the STFC advanced level of play. This is
provided here as a reference and might help you become a more advanced
player.

Battle Story

As STFC began in the advanced level of game play I instantly set into
checking the status of all of my ships and stations such as location,
and which starsystem I would be in range of attacking first. As it
happens three of my starships Enterprise, Seleya, and Sovereign were all
in sectors C1 through C3. Practically, on the Klingon boarder. Therefore
I decided that is where I would strike first.
As I looked over all of my starships I had to figure out which would
take the lead on this mission. Sovereign was the closest to Klingon
space plus was in sector C2 which was more ore less at the center of the
Federation/Klingon boarder. I then decided to set it up as my lead ship,
set Sovereign to warp 3, and then commanded all of my other starships to
autopilot to Sovereign at maximum warp.
Several moves passed as my other starships gained on Sovereign and
Sovereign crossed from Fed space in to Klingon space. Immediately one
Klingon starship, Qu'vaht, attacked Sovereign. I opened up on the
Klingon heavily damaging his torpedoes and disruptor's, but failed to
destroy him. He retreated and Drovna decloaked adding damage to Sovereign.
However, it was at this time Seleya and Enterprise made it to the
battle. Seleya opened up, not making Sovereign's mistake, and blew
Drovna away.
Meanwhile I put Sovereign on a withdraw to restore shields and phasers.
However, at this point in time Tohkaht opened up on Deep Space 9, and
was quickly dispatched. Setting more stats as 0 losses, two kills, and
one confirmed destroyed Klingon.
Feeling a bit left out the Cardassians decided to join in the action.
One Cardassian went for Enterprise while one went for Earth Station
McKinley. Let us just say both Cardassians were quickly destroyed.
At this point I decided Enterprise, Seleya, and Sovereign needed to
withdraw and restock at DS9 which was the closest station to the boarder
which I was currently defending. Fortunately, for the task force
Monarchy had just joined up with the fleet, and Defiant was 16 light
years behind.
As Monarchy joined the task force the Romulans decided to join in the
engagement. Goraxus decloaked and attacked Monarchy as she stayed behind
as a rear guard. There was a brief firefight and Commander Sela's
flagship was vaporised.
Right about that time the Vornak, another Klingon, attacked DS9. DS9 had
no trouble in dispatching the Vornak bringing the score to three
destroyed Klingons, one damaged Klingon, two Cardassian kills, and one
Romulan kill. Not bad, and I hadn't taken any serious losses yet.
Although, my fleet was running on low energy and a handful of torpedoes
between them all.
The Bortas, another Klingon, decloaked right in front of my withdrawing
fleet and pounded away on Sovereign knocking her power off line. This
might have been fatal except Enterprise, Monarchy, and Seleya had about
75 quantums each as well as low phaser power. I tossed all I had in to
Bortas and he exploded in a cloud of dust, and fortunately was no more.
Defiant had yet to see action. Although, I was ready to really ready to
punish the Klingons. Not to mention I wanted to hunt down and kill the
Qu'vaht who had escaped earlier.
I cloaked Defiant and sent it on a direct heading for the nearest
Klingon base figuring that is where I would find Qu'vaht. In this I
wasn't wrong. However, this battle almost became the turning point of
the war.
Defiant carried on to the Klingon base while all my other ships docked
with DS9 refueled, restocked weapons, and prepared for another
engagement. Once they were ready I sent Seleya, Sovereign, and
Enterprise out to backup Defiant. Monarchy was left behind either as a
rear guard or to intercept any invaders in to Fed space. Although the
Klingons weren't my worry. There wer four nasty Romulans out there which
had yet to make contact with my forces.
Defiant decloaked at Qo'nos 1 and hammered the station hard.
Unfortunately, I managed to knok power off line, but was unable to make
the kill with Defiant's weapons alone. Not only that but Terix happened
to decloak and hit Defiant causing critical damage. I cloaked and beat a
hasty retreat hoping to buy time for my allies to show up and start butt
kicking the Romulans.
A few moves passed and all at once I had three allied ships there, and
Defiant's phasers were charged. I decloaked and waited for my enemies to
show there face. What follows next is difficult to remember, but it
went something like this.
Terix and Qu'vaht decloaked firing on Seleya and Sovereign. While both
ships took damage my four starships blasted the Klingon starbase, terix,
and the Qu'vaht leaving nothing left of them. I also had weapons left
over which was good.
I had started to retreat when Deranas decloaked and hammered Sovereign.
This turned out to be faytal and Sovereign exploded. I was not happy,
but I at once again pulled all my resources and pounded Deranas until he
exploded, and beat a retreat out of there.
Around this time a Cardassian, Reklar, thought he'd take a crack at
McKinley while my fleet was otherwise engaging the Romulans. Monarchy
was to far away to do much good, and the Cardassians first attack
knocked out my sensors. I basically, had to restock my shields while
Reklar pounded me round after round with torpedoes and disruptors, and
I awaited my sensors to come back up. Unfortunately, when sensors did
come up my torpedo launchers were damaged. I unleashed a phaser attack
damaging the Reklar and he beat a hasty retreat away from the station.
Meanwhile Defiant, Enterprise, and Seleya joined up with Monarchy at DS9
and restocked, and prepared the Romulan invasion. I sent all four
starships directly for Romulan space.
When my fleet arived the battle turned out to be a bloody four on three
fight. As I nared Romulan space the Romulans decloaked and destroyed
Enterprise right off reducing my number to three. Not so good.
As it happens only one of the attackers was in weapons range of the rest
of the fleet, and of course we pounded him, and destroyed him
immediately. now we are are at two to three odds in favor.
Defiant took the lead and I formed Monarchy and Seleya up on Defiant.
unfortunately the Romulans both moved in attacked Defiant destroying
Defiant in the process. Fortunately, Monarchy and Seleya were ready and
both scored kills whiping out the last two Romulans.
At this point Monarchy and Seleya were sent directly to Earth Station
McKinley. It was nearest the Cardassian border, and I was expecting at
least one Cardassian to show up there. I was right.
Before my fleet came in to range of McKinley the Cardassian cruiser,
Reklar, decided to pick a rematch with the station. To bad for him, but
he lost that fight. McKinley had no trouble blowing him away.
Monarchy and Seleya predictably docked with McKinley, took on needed
restocks,a end set out for the end of this adventure. They headed
directly for the last two remaining Cardassians.
As I crossed the Cardassian border the Kraxon and Ravinok opened up on
Monarchy destroying one of my last two remaining starships. I was ticked
off, and Seleya was forced to battle it out with both Cardassians. I
opened up on Kraxon first blowing him away with a phaser blast all of my
photons, and half of my quantums.
Ravinok attacked Seleya greatly damaging my starship. No way was I
facing retreat. I would win or lose this next few turns. I would stick
in and fight until he or I met the end.
I recharged phasers and armed all my remaining quantums and hit him with
all I had. As expected it did not destroy him, but interestingly enough
I knocked out his warp engines and torpedo launchers.
I now had speed, and we were even as neither of us had torpedoes but
just energy weapons to fight with, and my shields were slightly better.
I then chose to put all my power in to the phasers, and set up a firing
solution where it fired 5 rounds of phasers at 20 percent. The tactic
worked. Each time the phasers fired he was heavily damaged, and he
eventually lost shields. With my last 20 percentage of power he
exploded, and died. I had defeated the enemy and had one starship beaten
and bloody, but alive.
