Startraders is a harder game than smugglers, both harder in gameplay and
harder to get your head around sinse there are so many different things to
worry about, faction type, ship upgrades, handy rumours (make sure to keep
looking at the rumours page and use them for nav points), even what cargo
your carrying.
I'd recommend careful reading of the manual and dipping into it
occasionally, and also accepting that your first fewgames you will! get
slaughtered.
Of course one or two access changes are still waiting on the game, but it's
certainly in a more than playable stateeven if you don't have some
information as yet.

Nope, it's on windows, but for something with a similar bent available
on Iphone or indeed android try startraders elite. The setting is
slightly different being further in the future and more like the dune
series, and the game is over all harder than smugglers, but it has many
of the same sort of ideas, eg, flying to different planets, trading,
fighting, and having to be in the good books with various factions,
although in startraders the factions are far more serious than in
smugglers sinse if you fall foul of a given faction they will kill you.
