Hi Damien.

I will agree writing manuals isn't precisely david greenwood's strong poitnt, which is a bit problematic given how complex his games usually are.

I played Toc 1.0, 2.0 I'm still trying to work out (I've not got this business about time intervals yet).

But basically you move around the map with your arrow keys. There are cities that produce your various troop[s, so in the default world war 2 version (which was the only option in original toc), you have infantry, armored units, fighters, various sorts of ships etc.

You conquer a city by moving your infantry troops to it, if it's free you'll get it automatically, though if it's occupied you'll have to fight off any enemies around it. You can use the applications key (or f10), to command all of your units, or do various things, that indeed is your friend much of the time sinse with it you can do things like see what is the closest unit to a given square or place or command a unit to go there.

In original time of conflict you were always asked to command each unit in an order, so your first infantry would be set to command, then your second and so on, though if you set them to sentry you didn't have to keep commanding them, and if you set them to roming they'd just wander around your teretory (this is handy when you want lots of infantry patrolling an area).

As I said there is a lot in the new time of conflict I've not got to grips with yet, for example you now have units like engineers who can build other units, and you can create various installations and bases and such, but hopefully that should give you a basic idea.

For time of conflict 1.0 David greenwood made some really good audio tutorials, it'd be nice if he could do that again now that so much more has been added to the game.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hi John,
I'm afraid to say, everything. I can move myself on the map, but that doesn't move my units. To be honest, I don't even know what "Units" are. I am assuming those are my fighters? I feel that the manual isn't very clear on some things. I don't know why, but I find similar issues with other GMA games due to unclear documentation as well. Not sure if that's just me or if others have experienced this. I think GMA tank commander is the only one I have grasped, but even then, I struggle to know where I am in the game world.
Thanks.
Damien.

I'd be glad to give you a hand. What exactly are you having trouble with; the map, commanding units, combat?
