Think of it this way. If you are traveling down a road and the road turns to the left, which side of the road would you be on if you continued straight ahead? The right. That's where the sound goes, too. You'd better turn to the left, or else! Whichever way the sound moves in your stereo field, go the opposite way until it becomes centered again. HTH.
