You can buy silver with real world currency, and also trade gold for silver.
In the market if I recall correctly you can trade various resources for gold
or buy various resources, and there is an option to trade gold for silver. I
don't recall the layout correctly but I do remember it did make sense.
The more you upgrade the market, the better exchange rates you got.
