That's the idea. I'd take a couple of my simpler games and try to get them to work with the GMA emulator. It can play WAV files and for input it's got cursor keys and a few buttons, so it's got everything I need.
I haven't got any pricing for blowing the PROM and making the cartridges, but I'm not planning to go down that route. I suspect you'd have to make quite a lot to make it cost-effective and it would be better to link up with a company who already had the mechanisms - and Ninetendo licence - in place. You can buy an EPROM kit, so you can burn and erase the cartridges from the PC, but it's only really for testing and demonstrating (I suppose some people may use it for copying) but it wouldn't make sense to use this media for the games because of the extra cost. The alternative to a cartridge is that the DS has wi-fi built-in and there is a technique you can use to download programmes from a PC, so there isn't any hardware cost. You're thinking to try and write accessible games for the GBA? Interesting idea, but I'm not sure how workable it would be. I suppose you'd just have to use an emulator to play 'em since we don't have access to the cartridges or a means of getting the finished product onto them. I supose if you were skilled enough you could conceivably develop your own games for an existing console and do it legally. Yo probably couldn't get them licensed by Nintendo without rather a lot of money, so you probably wouldn't make a whole lot from them but it's worth a try.
