You start with fifteen pieces, as does your opponent. Your goal is to get all of your pieces "home" before your opponent does. You get to move your pieces based on the results of die rolls. If one of your pieces lands on a single piece of your opponents, your opponent's piece gets sent back to the beginning, and has to start toward home all over again. Of course, the same is true if your opponent lands on one of your single pieces. To avoid this, you try to make sure that more than one of your pieces occupies a space. If there are two or more pieces of the same color on a space, then the opponent can't land on that space.
