I wouldn't worry about archers on that tutorial, go with footmen to defend, when you get enough gold and wood, upgrade the town hall to a keep then build a stable so you can recruit knights. Once you have about 3 or 4 knights and a few footmen you should be able to take over the computer no sweat. Make sure at the beginning to use the footman and archer you have to kill the solitary footmen enemies that are on the map. After killing the first one, send them to b1 so they can be healed at the town hall. Also, I reccomend 8 peasants on this map to get the resources quickly enough, maybe 10 if you go with knights.
