No, you don't need to do anything special, but to get the sell option to appear in your inventory you'll need to either be viewing either Griphooks weapons or armour (the same lists wich allow you to buy the stuff). I believe the links are called "examine weapons" or armour. Once you got the list up, just open your inventory and you can sell things.
