This is due to the world war 2 extention of quake. if you are registered, rename sounds.pak to pak2.pak, backup the old pak2.pak first. If you use the shareware version then pak2.pak is pak1.pak. if you have pak2.pak, and name the ww2 sounds.pak pak3.pak then you get this message. read the readme again, then rename the files, and then do what I did, which was backup the entire folder the id1 folder that is to cd.
