What did you say your MR was? I wouldn't recommend going after him until it's at least seventy, the higher the better. Then you'll at least be causing damage to him. Actually if you can get your MR to seventy-three or so you should do all right as far as the damage. As for his specials, you must just be particularly unlucky. I haven't often had the situation you're describing.
