That's not clear, and in any case you won't be able to use it until after you get the shield. The current theory is that the item is the glittering ice shard you get from killing the Frost demon, and the name of the shield seems to back that up since it's the Glittering Ice Shield. Once youget the shield you can go to a safe location and use the ice shard to see what happens. I can't confirm it yet since my character isn't quite to the point where she gets the shield. She's almost there, at least I hope so, but not quite. It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no plae to go. J.D.
