Yeah, I'll grant you that on all counts. But the same goes for just about any electronic, not just sony, hence the whole x box 3 rings of death thing going around years back. They both have their advantages and disadvantages I suppose. I wasn't saying I prefer one over the other, I have them both and don't mind either controller scheme. Just saying that the ps3 controllers can stand up to a fair amount. Maybe not as much as the tank of an x box controller, haha. Either way, they're both good systems.

Well, that's you - actually, some people have no problems with the controllers. Others somehow get things rattling around inside. My friend has one like that - yet another friend says his r2 button sticks badly, and yet another has no problems. The first dualshock controllers were absolute tanks. They could handle anything. Now its just cheaply made, expensively priced (for what you get). Something like the lenns in the ps2. Some people have had luck with it, others have had no luck at all and got the dreaded Disc Read error, very very common for ps2.We'll see how the ps3 goes. From what I've been able to find, some ps3's have already experienced problems. Dating back all the way to the first ps1 released (made out of plastic that overheated very easily) to now, sony's build quality has decreased a lot. Even my stario might be needing to be repaired after only 4 years of light use.

Electronics aren't being built like they used to. People buy cameras and monitors and look at numbers, not reliability, and don't do research. I have a set of surround sound speakers that would be worth 1000 dollars or more now, but back in 1995 when my brother had them they were only worth a few hundrid. They still work.

Take the sega cd, for example. Very few have experienced lens failure. Its a fuse in there that can be replaced easily that usually ends up being the culprit. Even the dreamcasts is hard to kill. Mind you they'll go eventually, but not as quick as sony.

I don't mean to be insulting sony here but its a fact. Look up disc read errors for ps2 or ps1 and you'll find most likely hundrids of discussions on the subject.

Wow, you guys must be really hard on controllers. I've had my ps3 for going on a year now, both my brother and I play it, and we've never had any problems with the controllers. I did notice they were a bit smaller than the ps2 controllers but that's about it.

Hi,
Yeah, have to agree with you on this. I played a little with a PS3 at the store and i also thought the PS3 controllers were cheaply made and flimsy. I much prefer the XBox controllers to the PS3 controllers, and even my PS2 controllers are better.

In my experience, the PS3 aka dualshock controllers have gone into the dust. I played a ps3 a while ago with a dualshock controller. The thing is flimzier. It seems with every generation of consoles the controllers and things get flimzier. The xbox controller might be big, but its sturdy and doesn't feel like it could break. Same with the wii mote. The wii mote, in fact, is quite interesting since you can do funky things with it.
