If there was enough genuine interest, I would be happy to read future issues of Audyssey out loud. I already have all of the necessary recording equipment. I would imagine that many people would just use jaws to read the text version, but I'm just throwing it out there. Thanks.

Well, I agree that more regular magazine releases if at all possible would be a good thing, ----- provided Ron (as current editer), would be happy with a collective effort.

However, going from there to "maybe the magazine is no longer needed" seems rather unreasonable.

Firstly, there are obviously a lot of people who are subscribed to the magazine only list, ---- and therefore the announcements and news are stil valuable, ---- besides, I personally often find the audeasy news a good overview.

Even more than that though, the magazine is the only place to publish semi-academic articals on audio games (I'm writing one for the next issue myself).

it is not possible to publish numbers of articals from various people in a blog, nor does a blog have either the same authority when presented in future accessible game discussion, ---- especially with future developers, independent companies, or other sources who may need the articals to refer to (such as gamespot).

As for having the magazine in an audio form, --- well if a human reader would be willing to reccord the thing in audio, ---- that would be a good thing, but if your just talking about an mp3 version read by a synth I'm afraid I don't particularly see the bennifit sinse everyone here has synths to read the text anyway.

If on the human reader subject you were imagining converting the magazine to some sort of podcast format, where people submitted audio reviews and articals, ---- well, that's a good idea as far as it goes, however given recording difficulties, ---- not to mention the need for text articals to refer to, ---- and considderations for people on dile up connections, I'm not sure how workable that would be.

Of course, more audio reviews would be a good thing indeed, ---- so if I'm wrong about this please let me know.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] audyssey game magazine proposal

Hi.
I think the audyssey magazine takes to long to publish.
its not regular enough.
I therefore think that instead of one editor doing this thing every 3 times a year or whenever he can that several should do it. actually I could put it all together or whatever and others could write articles, etc.
I have the time.
Not sure how it would all work I just know its taking ages or seems like it to get another issue. When mike feir was round it came out 4 times a year and was rather regular.
if it could be so again then it would be good.
I've never done a magazine I just know there is time.
Could also do an audio version for those that care.
obviously there would have to be text for those on dialup.
Right now I am not proposing a change immediately but its an idea.
I feel that as a community we should make decisions like this rather than complaining about this. On the usagames list muhammed said the mag was to long and I thought well its not regular so there is so much to put in. On that note I wander with all the blogs, and stuff if we even need a mag since everything thats in the mag is known by everyone thats on the net, most of it is old news.
Some newer articles, etc.
I propose that we could have some extra things to go with for say software release dates, etc. Say for full versions or maybe other things, events, etc to happen exactly on the day the magazine ispublished so we can get interest in it again.
I remember in the old days i started reading the mag on my 386 laptop.
I had at that point little net, dialup, etc.
It really got me realising that there was more to life than just me.
I know there have been times that I have gone a bit over the top on here however I am trying to post a reasonable post this time.
ANyway lets vote on this or something.
shaun
