Oh one blade next to a pit is fine. Even two blades at least so long as
there's enough space betweenthe blades themselves to give you a chance to
activate another blade protector if you want to use one. But all too often
I've run into those situations were you ump over the pit, lose your blade
protector and there's not enough space between that blade and the next to
let you act in time to save your neck.

All depends... if you use a blade protector before going over the pit, you
should be fine. Unless it's a situation where the blade is right next to
another blade... then you're in trouble. But a blade next to a pit is
beatable... just use the blade protector before jumping over.
