Right. This is why I say that a nodachi didn't necessarily have to be long and unwieldy. We may find five feet long katana a hard thing to picture, but to people back then it was pretty big... and Naginata were six or seven feet long in and of themselves, and were still usable by samurai. Take into consideration too, that back then, Japanese people were extremely small- just look at the armor displays in museum, armor worn by famed Samurai- most of these look to fit people under five feet tall lol.
