Hi Kim,

As with everything else in life this would largely depend on what mud client you were using. There are a bunch of different scripting languages such as Lua which is one of the more common languages used by mud clients, but certainly not the only one. In order to help you more we'd have to know what mud client you are using and what scripting language it uses for scripting the client.

As far as the terminology goes that's pretty standard stuff.

An alias is basically a custom command you create to combined or modify a number of existing commands in the mud to make typing easier or just make it easier to remember.

A trigger is an attribute such as specific text that causes your script to do something when that condition is met. Although, there are several differen types of triggers besides a certain text string.

If you want more description of the terminology that should be found in your mud clients scripting documentation. That would be the best place to start.

Cheers!

Hi, does anyone know if there are tutorials on how to do mudding,
scripting from the ground up which explains in non-technical language
the meaning of the following terms: alias, trigger, key, class, etc.
Also, how to write such stuff when one has never programmed in one's
life and is sure one might make a thorough botch of it? Regards, Kim
Friedman.
