Hi, Don't know if it will help or whether I'm just telling you stuff you already know, but one key gesture for navigation is flicking one finger left or right which moves you to the next or previous item (kind of like pressing tab on a pc in internet exploer) so this way you can move through each field so you can move from the very beginning to the very end to see if there are maybe any fields that you've missed.
I remember when I first used my iphone and had to do the apple id bit it was really difficult because of getting used to the on screen keyboard and gestures etc but once done the first time is more straight forward next time as you only need to enter the id and password . Again sorry if this is stuff you already knew and tried but I thought just in case you hadn't it might help.
