Hi ibrahim.

No need for anyone you share with to create an ss account, they can just grab the files from your links.

Another nice thing about ss is that people only get access to what stuff you send them links for, thus for a long while I used ss to store an extra backup of my phd and all my reading material, but obviously i wouldn't want other people getting that. However, even if I sent people links to stuff in the same folder, they could only download the stuff I gave them links to, either files or folders.

that's another thing I like about ss.

The old account system wasn't too complicated, but I can see where confusion arose sinse pro and max did different things but now there are just two pro accounts, which basically change the size of the files you can upload, standard pro gives a max of 4 gb files while pro plus gives 10, and also pro plus comes with 300 gb a month of unlimited bandwidth.

i'll be going pro when my max account runs out next february.

As I said, use whatever system you like, but I could recommend ss, it's what all my gaming articals and podcasts are stuck up under.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hi Dark.

I've been meaning to look in to the new plans Sendspace offer since a friend told me that Sendspace had simplified things a lot the last time I visited. I'll have to go check them out, however I'll probably still use SkyDrive as sharing is a pane in the ass with the account creation thing.

All the best, Ibrahim.

that's again why I use ss.

The free account isn't much, just 1 gb, but The paid account which costs
less than dropbox gives you absolutely unlimted space. With super fast pro
links there is a 100 gb bandwidth sharing limit a month, but pro links
aren't really needed as you can just use normal links, and the wizard makes managing your files and even downloading other ss users' files much easier,
indeed I was impresed with the way that they fixed labelling on buttons in
the wizard once myself and several other people raised access points.

Of course, choice is up to you, but like yourself I find something I like
and tend to stick with it, and where file sharing or online stoarage is
concerned that thing for me is sendspace.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hi Thomas.

Precisely, I use SkyDrive on a daily basis, I only have dropbox for those odd occasions I want to share files with people unable or unwilling to create a Microsoft account. In my opinion, Dropbox is slower to upload to, also it offers very niggardly free space, for instance 2GB to the 7GB offered as standard with SkyDrive and the plans for upgrade at the time I started using SkyDrive were very competitive compared to Dropbox. I'm the kind of person who once they've found something that works usually sticks to the same unless I've a really good reason to have to change things.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Dark and all,

Sky Drive isn't a random service. It is Microsoft's new cloud storage
system for Windows 7 and Windows 8 that ships with Windows Live
Essentials. The idea is you can backup, store, or share files with
other Microsoft Sky Drive users which is actually pretty cool because
you can sink Windows 8 settings across a network via Sky Drive.

Hi ibrahim.

I'm afraid i'm having the same problem. I go to the page, and clicking on
either the file name or on download prompts me to sign in or create an
account on this skydrive thingy. Is there a way to download without creating

an account? i'm afraid I'm a little wary of creating an account on a
random service.

I would recommend personally using sendspace, www.sendspace.com sinse it's

very easy to upload and download from them and people can download quite
freely once they have the link to your files without creating an account (sendspace is what I use myself for sharing files), plus if people already
have accounts they can use the sendspace wizard program which is very
accessible and serves as a great download and upload manager too. I've in
fact used them now for a few years and I'd highly recommend them.

others have used dropbox, i know less about that service, but I can
confirm downloading from them is fairly simple.

Either way, I would love to see your archive so I hope you can find a
workable way around.

all the best,

Dark.
