I tried reproducing the issue with the nodes not having each other in
/etc/hosts, but failed: everything works as expected, so I guess we cannot
do much about this unless we receive more input.
Also, given that the bug is reported in a really old version, it is quite
likely that it doesn't exist anymore because of all the changes in the code.
