Over to Jose, who did the main work on user shutdown detection.
However, I must mention two general points about Ganeti.
- While I agree that new features ought to be mentioned in the NEWS file
in a proper way, the standard reference for using Ganeti are the man
pages. Design documents are written in advance for developpers describing
how a new features is to be added.
- Ganeti tries to be backwards compatible with earlier version wherever
possible. In particular, it is Ganeti standard practise that new features
are opt-in and need to be enabled explicitly. This ensures that users
upgrading from older versions do not suddenly have a cluster behaving
differently.
