New issue 1056 by [email protected]: gnt-backup with RBD, export config
only
https://code.google.com/p/ganeti/issues/detail?id=1056
What software version are you running? Please provide the output of "gnt-
cluster --version", "gnt-cluster version", and "hspace --version".
2.12.1
What distribution are you using?
Debian Jessie
What steps will reproduce the problem?
See:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/ganeti/-ZcsTLnE3nk
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Please provide any additional information below.
Aside from having RBD correctly supported with gnt-backup (even in a
limited fashion), there is a more generic feature request that would help
with this and similar unsupported (non-LVM) storage systems.
As per the thread above, add a switch to export to just generate
the "config.ini" file for the instance in question.
That file is human readable and easily edited, so the name of a manually
created disk copy can be entered.
However for this to work fully, the import part of gnt-backup will also
need a switch to NOT expect a LVM snapshot but something like a full image
dump.
Alternatively, being able to specify an already populated image (in the
case of RBD having exported it and imported it manually) instead of backup
would be also quite helpful. And probably handy in other use cases.
