New issue 1066 by [email protected]: Override migration check for
plain
https://code.google.com/p/ganeti/issues/detail?id=1066
What software version are you running? Please provide the output of "gnt-
cluster --version", "gnt-cluster version", and "hspace --version".
ganeti 2.11.6
What distribution are you using?
Debian Wheezy + Xen 4.4.1(backported from Jessie) + clvm + ganeti 2.11.6
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attach clvm storage to >2 nodes.
2. Create Instance with plain storage.
3. On master > gnt-instance migrate GUEST > migration not allowed
with 'plain'...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
...performing migration with 'plain'...
Please provide any additional information below.
I know ganti does not support migrations with 'plain' storage yet.
I have tested this many times with "xl migrate GUEST NODE" and it works
great, even with "shared lvm" (master can write metadata, master-candidate
has only read access to metadata).
I would like to use ganeti, but this restriction to 'plain' is a killer.
How can I override this migration restriction?
Where do I have to alter the source code?
Do you have a patch for this?
I'am no developer, so I cannot do this on myself.
Please be so kind and help me out. I would really like to see migration
support for "shared lvm" or "clvm" in ganeti.
I'm a network administrator with 20 years of experience with linux.
Kind regards
Darius
